For over 50 years, the Girouard family has cared for Rhus Ridge—clearing trails, assisting hikers, and protecting the open space. Now, MidPen is evicting them, despite their decades of service to our community.
Raye Girouard, who taught hundreds of children archery and outdoor skills at local schools and camps, dedicated his life to this land. After his passing in 2018, his wife Susan and son Jeremiah continued his legacy, ensuring the trails remain safe and maintained. If you’ve hiked Rhus Ridge, you’ve likely met Susan or Jeremiah—and it’s heartbreaking to think they could be forced out, leaving the land without its longtime caretakers.
